Passed my Engine Performance and Repair test. I think I'm the only person who did.
These seem pretty damn easy if you know the terminology and acronyms and such.
Now, can I please go out in the shop for the first time since who knowns when and actually work on cars?

I was surrounded by idiots in my tech course. some even thought VTEC was the saviour of performance in the engine.

Congrats. There really is no replacement for being interested in the subject material is there.

Was it like "What's wrong with this engine?" "It's missing the whole damn cylinder head." "Congratulations, A+++!"

Is this a class in your high school?
If it is I'm extremely jealous.

NO YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOUR CLASSMATES ARE COMPETENT ENOUGH TO WORK ON CARS FOR ANYONE TO DO IT

Kind of. I'm bussed out to a specialty school and take it there.

I wish. More like "An engine is cranking but not starting. You plug in an OBDII reader and it shows this information *insert chart* What is causing the motor to not fire?"
Then 4 choices of answer.

These guys think the 3800 Series II is the best engine on the planet so it's not any better.

This is basically how it is. Too bad none of them are competent.

Way to crush it! Are you at least headed for semester/holiday break soon?

Ahhhh, damn. At least that's not too hard if you know your stuff. Certainly not as fun as open-ended questions, though.

That sucks. I guess you'll just have to stare at your awful van for 20 more years until it breaks(not from drivetrain failure, just from being a dick)

I think I have two more weeks until winter break. I have no idea really, since I have to try and remember schedules for two different schools.

I just learned that it's eligible for antique plates in a few years. I think once it reaches that eligibility it's time to go.

lol, or you can just put the plates on, and take it to concours.

"Yeah man, all original."
"Yeah no shit, get that piece of shit out of here."

"whoa were those patches of bare metal put on there or are they just like that "

Still pretty jealous. We had no option of that back when I was in high school.

Good luck! I finished grad school in 1998, but the memories of how hard you have to work (if you're doing it right, and sounds like you are) stay fresh. I feel bad for students this time of year. Usually all the test/exams/papers/conferences build to a fever pitch where everyone has to study/work over Thanksgiving, mad dash to the week before Christmas, and then when they might finally be in the clear for a break, their bodies say, "Oh, good, downtime finally! Now we can get sick with the flu or mono or something fun."

This time of year is hectic and so damn stressful. I only have a little less than three weeks of school and in that time I have a 250 point project due, a 200 point paper, 100 point project, a few more 50 point tests, and then finals in my classes that count for 20% of my grade.

That, right there, is a crap ton of work. Good luck, head down, and stay healthy! Hope you get to follow it up with a great time over break, too.
